History and sights of Hvar

This has been the queen of the Croatian islands of Dalmatia since ancient times, due to its strategic and nautical position, rich historical periods and natural monuments. Hvar has celebrated 140 years of organized tourism and is among the 10 most beautiful in the world, with mild winters and hot summers with many hours of sunshine.

It is accessible from Split and in turn provides access to the other islands in the region.

With fertile soil and abundant drinking water, it has vineyards, olive groves, orchards and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. A paradise!

The main city has the same name as the island and you need to start the day before the tourists, at sunrise in the main square, from the 13th century, which houses the Cathedral of Saint Stephen, built between the 15th and 17th centuries and which gives the same name to the square.

The simply spectacular sunset must be seen from the Spanish Fortress, built in the 16th century to protect against the invasion of the Turks and named after the building engineers.

Riva is the public promenade in the city center with several restaurants and a beautiful night view of the fortress, with the 16th century Loggia (City Lodge) in the foreground, with its Venetian architecture and a beautiful 19th century clock tower.
