History and sights of Innsbruck and Tyrol

Tyrol is one of the federated states of Austria, located in its western part.

It is one of the jewels of the beautiful Alps region, along with other areas that border Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Innsbruck has been the capital of Tyrol since 1429 and is crossed by the river Inn, which gave it its name, composing the term bruck (bridge).
The colorful houses along the river, framed by the Alps, are the city's main postcard and look magnificent at nightfall, enhancing this university city, which contributes to the young and festive atmosphere of its entire historic center.

Among the small towns in Tirol is Seefeld in Tirol, which enchants despite it not being winter, the best time to enjoy it.
In the past it was an agricultural village and today, with just over 3,300 inhabitants, it is an important tourist resort, just 17 km from Innsbruck, and the main center for cross-country skiing in the world, a gentle and rhythmic sport on snow.

On a good autumn walk, you can't help but admire the Seekirchl Heilig Kreuz, from 1666 in a high baroque style with eight faces, a Seefeld landmark.
