History and sights of Plitvice
Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia's biggest tourist attraction, a natural phenomenon with unique landscapes of great beauty in an area of 300 km2.
There are 16 lakes in two large groups, the upper lakes (12 lakes) and the lower lakes (4), which are connected by small waterfalls due to their different levels, with colors varying between green and blue.
Its flora and fauna are very rich with more than 1,200 species of plants, 55 types of orchids, bears and more than 160 birds and 320 species of butterflies already catalogued.
Tours are made via the walkways that cross the lakes and by boats on the wider crossings, which require hours-long queues in high seasons, when the park is crowded.
For a change, the life of a photographer requires sacrifices, such as arriving in the first hour of dawn to have the trails and the most beautiful spots unobstructed by people and having the crossing boat all to yourself!
