History and sights of Zadar
This city on the Dalmatian coast is known for its ruins such as those of the Roman-era forum, next to the round, pre-Romanesque Church of Saint Donatus, from the 9th century, next to the Zadar Cathedral, from the 12th century.
On the modern seafront promenade, one of the attractions is the Sea Organ, a work of sound art that takes advantage of the pressure of waves on tubes located under the steps and air flow from its rectangular and round openings, these on the floor of the stones.
Another great attraction is watching the sunset, here with the original creation of Croatian architect Nikola BaSié: a monument formed with 300 multi-layered glass plates at the same level as the pavement, in a circular shape with 22 meters in diameter, with modules photovoltaic solar panels underneath, symbolizing communication with nature through light, in addition to the Organ, with communication through sound.
This creation is called Salutation to the Sun and is another symbol of the city, which attracts many visitors.
